Crataeva religiosa, Forst. F. – A threatened medicinal plant of India, reported from Mandsaur district, madhya pradesh
Abstract
Extinction and species introduction are two major biodiversity crises of the current millennium. A species may become endangered and eventually extinct when death rate exceeds birth for a prolonged duration. We all are well aware of the medicinal values of plants. They are one of the most important sources of medicines. Crataeva religiosa, Forst. F. the sacred garlic pear or temple plant, a well known medicinal plant enlisted in ayurveda which is widely used by the tribals for the treatment of various ailments is reported in mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh State. Crataeva religiosa, Forst is categorized under threatened (rare) plant species.
