Abstract

Lemon grass (Cymbopogon citratus), is a member of poaceae family which possess variety of medicinal properties. Lemongrass is used for treating digestive tract spasms, stomachache, high blood pressure, convulsions, pain, vomiting, cough, achy joints (rheumatism), fever, the common cold, and exhaustion. It is also used to kill germs and as a mild astringent. Lemongrass is widely used in the herbal teas and other non-alcoholic beverages in baked food, and also in the confections. Due to the presence of various chemical constituents in lemon grass oil, it uses in different pharmaceutical industries also.
