A review on uses of buransh (Rhododendron)
Abstract
Rhododendron arboreum tree from the valley of Himalayas known for its bright scarlet red bell shaped flowers filled with sweet nectar, is one such tree with medicinal uses. Rhododendron arboreum locally called buransh, is National flower of Nepal and Uttarakhand having small tree with bright scarlet red flowers and green leaves. Rhododendron is derived from a Greek word RHODO and DENDRON which means rose-tree is used traditionally as medicine and also as food. Buransh leaves and flowers have been put to various medicinal purposes traditionally. Buransh as anti-inflammatory, as an antioxidant, antidiabetic, to treat diarrhea, as antimicrobial, flower juice good for heart, antiallergic, as hepatoprotective, anticancer, skin benefits.
