A systematic review on herbal extraction technologies
Abstract
Extraction of active components and essential oils from medicinal and aromatic plants is possible using a variety of procedures. The decision is based on the process's economic feasibility and fits the specific situation. This paper examines the methods of Infusion, Digestion, Maceration, Decoction, Percolation, Hot Continuous Extraction (Soxhlet), Aqueous Alcoholic Extraction by Fermentation, Counter-current Extraction, Ultrasound Extraction (Sonication), Supercritical Fluid Extraction involved in the synthesis of therapeutic plant extracts and essential oils.
