Abstract
Pot marigold (Calendula officinalis), a member of the Asteraceae family, is an important medicinal plant utilized for traditional medicine. This review seeks to present an overview of the plant's phytochemical components, pharmacological effects and its conventional uses. It has a rich source of bioactive components, such as terpenoids, flavonoids, coumarins, quinones, and volatile oils. It has antioxidant, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, genotoxic, and anti-genotoxic pharmacological effects. Indigenous people have used the plant to cure wounds, burns and skin conditions. The review highlights the potential of Calendula officinalis as a natural remedy for various health issues.
